Mr. Abhay Sahney, Finance Officer, "Tribhuvan" Sahkari University, is a qualified Cost and Works Accountant (CWA), a distinguished finance professional with nearly two decades of experience in public finance, financial administration, and institutional governance. Throughout his career, he has held key financial leadership positions across premier public sector enterprises and institutions of national importance, demonstrating extensive expertise in budgeting, accounting, statutory compliance, financial planning, auditing, taxation, and corporate governance.
Mr. Sahney began his professional journey with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited before joining Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), where he served for over 13 years in progressively responsible finance and accounts positions. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in strengthening financial systems, streamlining financial operations, and enhancing organisational efficiency.
He subsequently served as the first Controller of Finance and Accounts at the National Institute of Design (NID), Haryana, where he was responsible for establishing the finance and accounts department, managing government grants, ensuring statutory compliance, handling taxation, auditing, and overseeing financial governance. In addition, he held the additional charge of Chief Administrative Officer, overseeing establishment matters, personnel administration, procurement, infrastructure, security, and general administration, thereby contributing significantly to the Institute's overall governance and operational effectiveness.
Prior to joining "Tribhuvan" Sahkari University, Mr. Sahney served as Joint General Manager (Finance) at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, where he headed the Finance and Accounts Department and served as the Secretary to the Finance Committee, supporting the Institute's financial planning, governance, and strategic decision-making.
As the Finance Officer of "Tribhuvan" Sahkari University, Mr. Sahney brings extensive experience in financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and institutional financial governance. His leadership continues to strengthen the University's financial management systems and governance framework, supporting its mission of emerging as a globally recognised centre of excellence in cooperative education, research, innovation, and capacity building.
